@Gitzo- Thank you, sir. I was very lucky that he stayed put as long as he did. I found out in Africa that sometimes getting a great shot is like fishing. It may take a while, take a bit of patience, and in the end it was worth every minute!
I went up to the Delaware Water Gap today for a bit of walking, since Saturday in Georgia was too long to wait! It was brown and mostly unexciting, but I tried a couple self-portraits so I have some stuff to use for my trail journal / maybe social media. Also, I plan on wearing a kilt - in this case a ligthweight, microfiber hiking type - for much of the Appalachian Trail. How far will YOU walk without wearing pants this year? :P

@ Coastalconn...... Outstanding shot of a "juvi"! I have a pair that nest not too far from where I live; I'm hoping to spend some time watching them this summer; Love the panning heron shot as well.
@ Tommie; You do great locomotives !
@ Juergen; superb composition, Juergen! (What a bill!)
@ Pippigurl; an outstanding image of an outstanding subject! ( you are really doing great with your new D800!
@ mk2pop; Very nice shot of a little bird that I'm unable to identify.
Very nice work everyone ! Keep this kind of quality up and we're going to start seeing Canonites becoming Nikonians !
Great posts....@Gotzo: thx I love it. @Pickerel:they will love you as you pass through Robbinsville/Graham county area in your kilt. Good luck on your journey.
Africa Continues... November 2011 Morning on the Ngorongoro Crater rim. Taken from the out look area at the Sopa Lodge.

Some of the PAD viewers like to see exactly how a photo on PAD was made. The easiest way is through the Exif data, but this requires the settings on the photo posting site to be configured so as to allow this data to be examined.
The other way, somewhat more work, is to simply add after your photo, the camera, lens, settings used.
This is a suggestion only, but can be quite helpful for those of us who still are learning. If you do not want this information shown, that is perfectly OK as well.
@iroll- The fog was pouring in to the crater that morning. I did not want to eat up memory on video and the fact it would have been hand held would have made the video worthless. But it was an amazing sight! Thank you for your comment
Africa Continued... November 2011 Leaving from the Kilimanjaro Airport on our way to the air strip near Arusha, we stopped at the Mount Meru Game lodge and Sanctuary for lunch. This a detail from one of the lodge room doors.
