I continue to love the versatility of my Z8 (same would be true for the Z9). There just isn't anything I do or want to do which it cannot handle very well. Here are some images of different things I have shot with the Z8.
Portraits. Shot with the 24-120 f4 at 78mm (effectively emulating an 85mm portrait lens).
Small Wildlife, Birds. Shot a 900mm with the 180-600 zoom in DX mode (effectively emulating an exotic 15,000.00 dollar plus super telephoto).
Larger birds, the Red Shouldered Hawk.
Small mammal wildlife, Fawn. Shot with 180-600 zoom.
Larger mammal, 1 and 1/2 year old buck. Shot with 180-600 zoom.
The 45mp is great because it allows for extensive cropping after the fact. I think the Z8 is the new D700 and the Z9 is the new D3. There really is no more I could ask for in a camera. Do I want a 100mp sensor? Only if I was going to print larger than poster size and even then only if such small pixels could maintain the same image quality as the Z8. I already have great 24x36 inch prints made with 36mp D800 files so I am sure the 45mp sensor can produce great poster size prints. So where does Nikon go next? What can they market as a camera we "need?"
