@ben_v3 To make monochrome pictures direct in a digital camera you need a monochrome sensor, Leica has one. At the moment the best B&W convertor is Silver Efex Pro, but software is getting better and better, so that will change too over time.
The bird is called a "Crowned Pigeon" and found in a very dark tropic environment in Avifauna, where I tested my D600 noise with High ISO's. A sort of portret-photography with available light.
In Dutch it is called Kroonduif, we had a Dutch airplane company called "Kroonduif"
I was impressed by the color, I did nothing with saturation, just in LR a bit noise stuff and as always some contrast and clarity.

Those who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it!
Tigniats, I think the color and exposure here is just right. It looks like you may have used a tungstun wb. But the blue and orange colors complement each other.
Now, for mine for today, as long as much of the country is locked in winter, a couple more from my last day of cross country skiing (Saturday) for the season:
Not sure if linking to 500px will work like this, but here goes.
I've posted this waterfall before, but this is a different shot from a different angle which I think I prefer as you have the line of the water taking your eye through the whole image.
I've called this black silk, which I think is fitting. The waterfalls is Svartifoss in Iceland's Skaftafell National Park.
Gripper, I found myself looking through your slickpic pages on Iceland the other day, your shot of the beach at Vik with the Reynisdrangar sea stacks in the distance is my favourite I've seen from that location.
Postman Thank you. I hope you enjoyed the galleries. Iceland is a wonderful location. My own favourite is the sole man standing at the foot of the mighty Skogarfoss, which gives it a sense of scale. I may post that here tomorrow.
