Butterfly House - so many options to choose from...

I got a chance to try out a 105mm macro sigma lens. I got to have either that or a Nikon. WOW.... It is so much better than shooting with a 55-300. Thank you Yetibudda.

Thanks for the nice comments, very kind...
Pierre, you got me beat this month....
@ Pierre .......Very good timing Pierre ! It made all the difference in that shot....
Forgot where I read this: "Good photo is a large percentage of technique, patience, hard work and a tiny fraction of luck, but the truly great ones all happened in that narrow 'lucky' window." ...or something like that...

When I took it, I only had a vague hope that something would come-out, it was not planned at all, I guess I had some luck that day... If only I had it more often....

@LNuffesse Not an everyday scene for sure, nice.
@Rx4Photo please tell us how you did this, too bad the smoke at the top was cropped, beautiful.
@bri4njun I find your pier to have a center-to-earth or deep gold mining or goblin underground look.
@pippigurl Love the lighting, bokey and composition, well done.

@ Pierre, Thank you. There's an incense cone burning at the bottom of the wine glass - I just edited out the glowing tip. On one side there's a red gelled SB-900 with a long snoot made out of black construction paper pointed at the smoke. On the other side a green gelled SB-910 with the same cheep DIY snoot pointed more so at the glass. The background is a small piece of black velvet that I bought from a fabric store in the remnant department. I shot lots of these and will look to see if I have any where the smoke plume isn't cropped off.

@ Pippigurl, don't you love it when you press that button at the perfect time to catch that? Very nice!

Sometimes an interesting picture is away from the action. Here we see what people who feed us do during a break. At the US Tennis Open in 2012.

@pippigurl- My anolis' (in Florida) never stay put that long enough to get a shot like that. Great shot!

@Ton- is that an Egyptian goose? I think it is. Saw a lot of them in Africa. I just did not have the reach to get a good shot.

I like the shot, would say the wingtip drag is what changes it from a picture of the back end of a bird to and interesting photo. That splash was the first thing that caught my eye.
