You guys are making me want to get into bird photography. I have shot before because I happened to run into them. There are several forest preserves by my house. I see kits of insects too. I don't have a macro lens anymore but I would like to get a tele down the road.
I did buy a bird feeder but I just feed the birds not photograph them. One day I'll make time and setup the camera at the backyard.
There is also an eagle that came to one of the nearby lakes in over a century to nest and breed. I haven't looked into renting a tele lens either. Maybe ill stick to ducks and the zoo
Shot on the Rubicon trail along Lake Tahoe, a five-mile hike that hugs the shoreline pretty much the whole way. Sometimes you're right next to the water, other times you're 200 feet above it. This boat is sitting in about 10 feet of water, which gives you an idea of how clear this lake is.
Don't worry, Jeurgen, yours is great - in fact I like it more because it has great character and its actually rather unique as bird photos go. I wouldn't normally expect to see a sneaky owl on the ground hiding behind a tree. :P
...Hope you brought your tripod with you - go down to the bridge over the river you get a wonderful view at twilight with the buildings bathed in light
We are zooming through northern Europe and we do not have much time. I did not had the opportunity to see it at night, but thanks to Juergen for providing it.
Instead here is a view of the interior.
Today, we arrived at Barth, on the north-east corner of Germany and it took us 3 hours (and 40 tries) to find a vacant hotel. Looks like the entire Germany takes their vacation on the north.
@Juergen Wow! Just wow. I was making up all sorts of stories in my head to go along with this shot. He is actually leaning to left, to check you out. "What? I wasn't doing anything!". Okay, my vote for pic of the month.

... And no time to use them.
@Coastalconn Hats off to you! Real class.
D3000, f/8, 1/250, 48mm on the 18-55 kit lens. The glint off the chrome was dazzling. I lost a little and then a little more in posting.
