August is off to a rip roaring start! For me it is prime Osprey time.. All the babies have fledged and are now learning how to fish... D300 * Tokina 300 F2.8 * 1/1250th * F6.3(F5) * ISO 400
Heya folks. I will try to continue making odd appearances here, as I am now into the White Mountains of New Hampshire and moving farther from outposts of civilization. Today I am taking a day off, processing and uploading photos courtesy of McDonalds wifi. Here is one from just into Maryland, crossing over from Harpers Ferry during a short section of the AT which is coincident with a rail trail there.
Very cool to hear you guys meeting up! Looking forward to see more of your shots! I always liked trains so anything involving them is a plus for me. Those railroad trestles look pretty cool.
Gonna try contribute more consistently this month
Found this in a carpark near my dorms
Jaguar E-type in great condition. Never saw one in person until now, and its a stunning car.
Your dorm mates have very good taste in cars. And also quite affluent!
The coolest car I've ever seen at college was a 60's Mustang driven by a really cute girl. Not going to lie, I had an instant crush on her!
D3000 w/ Canon FD 50mm lens. Yeah, my old FD Canon lens on a Nikon body. I used one of those $15 adapter rings without the glass. I had to shoot a few frames to get decent lighting. f/??, 1/125 @ ISO-1600. I plan to play around with this lens and the Canon 135mm over the weekend and will post if there is any interest.
@NSXTypeR Hey! Yeah, I shot something similar of my Nikkormat, only the aperture dial was right side up. +1 to ya. My daughter went off to law school today, so I went with her Pikachu so as to not steal your thunder!
Thanks!
Very cool to see Canon glass on a Nikon body! How is it shooting with it? I would assume there'd be no metering right? It's very convenient to shoot with a low end body as you can basically mount any lens to it without fear.
The old film bodies all shared similar parts, so it's not unlikely to see similar design.
I'm about to start med school myself! Congrats to your daughter and good luck!
Pikachu is cool too, I was a big fan of Pokemon as a kid.
CoastalConn- your series of photos of that osprey are very cool!
ZSChow- Cool shot! Hope I can visit Eastern Europe some day!
Much kudos to you guys that get great snaps of butterflies- they just don't stop moving. I don't even want to know how to set up a tripod for them, they are only still for 2-3 seconds for me.
The sun was peeking through some mountains in Alishan, Taiwan.
Nice work all, especially the animals/insects/scenery.
Lübeck - Germany (North)
Today we arrived in Copenhagen (Denmark) and spent the afternoon driving and walking around, beautiful city and fairly large but boy is it expensive. A mid-size coke bottle goes for about $7.00 US at the supermarket. A cheap room with no breakfast/parking goes for about $220. There was so many people on the streets reserved for pedestrians we could barely walk or see the pavement. We then crossed the bridge ($47) to Malmo (Sweden) and there we got a room at Best Western for about $140 including breakfast.
We were told that further north we go the more expensive it gets.
Wow it's been a while since I've looked at these photos, really missed some good ones in July .
Well went to the Oregon Garden (supposedly the largest garden in Oregon) last weekend and there were bees EVERYWHERE! lol Made me wish I had a macro, this is a 50% crop, the other flowers seemed too distracting.

@NSXTypeR: I have been to the Alishan a couple of years ago. Amazing experience. I hope you have more pics to post.
