I didn't take my tripod because it was raining but once it stopped raining I used a made up tripod (building ledge).
My first try at with a 10 stop. I guessed the frame since I moved locations and metered with an app on my phone and then did the calculations with another app for ND filter.
great shots people ... left comments on flickr as always ... This one is not a particularly good photo ...... shot against the light and PPd heavily ...... yet I love it because it was my first sighting of this pretty bird ..... and also 'cause the crest looks like the headgear of a Greek hoplite soldier ... . It also kind-of explains the name of the species....

Awesome. Peter, I particularly like that shot from Santa Fe.
Was sitting down by the lake the other night waiting for the sun to set when I noticed this dad launching his kid into the air over and over. They had no idea I was there. Nothing like summer.

Finally managed to registered myself since the new forum. I was registered under user name "JY" in the old forum. I have watched the old PAD for quite sometimes and been wanting to participate, but somehow the new layout put me off for a while.
One for @msmoto ... when I was hitchhiking near Bennington, VT I got a ride in this 1971 Volvo. Quick shot to document the hitch, and I am also probably the only hitchhiker with a perspective control lens.

To create this somewhat miniaturized look of the boat full of people I took advantage of the mist created by the falls and coupled it with the stone barrier in front of me - all out of focus. A bit of sharpening enhanced this effect. No software or in-camera effect added.
I'm always amazed how long it took for humankind to realize that Earth is round and not flat. Just go in an open cockpit airplane, take a wide-angle picture (example below), and you see it! (yeah, I know...) Shot over Acadia National Park.

Odd happenings in a nice neighborhood.
@PitchBlack : very nice!
@Peter : is there lightroom or a photoshop in the vicinity? Nice capture, I like the symmetry!
