    Didja getityet?
Yeah .. been a tough week at work so after i got it from the courier company on Thursday I didn’t open it till late that evening..

First impression..? my new toy from the box smells nice ..(funny how these new toys smell nice). Looks just like my D7000 just a couple of buttons different.. The iso is now at the bottom. The record button is next to the shutter release (not that I use that much.. but may be i will start. Went through the external buttons a bit before i went to bed as the battery charged.. and felt a bit unsatisfied/bored .. its just the same as my D7000.. not much of a Geek rush of discovering interesting new knobs and functions.

The next evening with battery charged I got to play with it a bit more yesterday and took some pictures and changed some settings... less bored now :-) .. lots of different menu items and settings for my geek self to play with ! I am a P mode shooter and the the P more is much nicer and smarter! especially with the smarter auto ISO!. Even though I first thought it was mostly the same between it and my D7000, somehow the knobs and ergonomics feels quite a bit better .. the increased weight and size between the D7000 and the D610 is very nice! I always felt that the D7000 was a bit too light and i am sure that the shutter introduces camera shake so I use the quiet mode just bec. it reduces camera shake. On the D610 The shutter sound is a bit louder? ( have not compared side by side)

The first lens i tried was my fav lens ... the 150 F2.8 sigma macro.. Its really has had a new lease of life on my D610. Focus is back to be as good or better than it was on my S5pro(D200 clone).. the D7000 always seems a touch hesitant with that lens but its a Macro lens that I hardly use AF on anyway so it was ok. but on the D610 its really quicker to react and then grab focus. Then tried my old DX12-24 ... . It feels and looks great on the D610 .. I may actually start using it more :-) .. The 18-200 DX is now on the camera !! ;-) trying to figure out what to do with that lense.. love it for my Nikon1 .. will see how it goes on my D610 to see if it is usable at all.. theoretically its should perform better on the D610 than on the other new DX cameras.. but will try it out and see how it goes...

.. need to get a bigger SD card and take some pictures. so off shooting and shopping for a card and vegetables :-)

    For me I think this D610 :x :x :x is my D400 =(( =(( =((

So I just got the D610 today! After three visits to Nikon Canada service I brought it to my camera dealer here in Toronto and had it replaced under a lemon replacement warranty, after showing them the recent Nikon service notice about replacing any D600 that had been serviced three times and still had problems. This was true for my D600 - a cleaning, a shutter replacement, another cleaning (all by Nikon Canada) and still I had significant spots coming back.

Thanks @Msmoto and others I met at the NRF meetup in Maine for suggestions on taking this approach with the store I purchased at. I'm hopeful with the D610 I'm in less dusty/oily territory! I have two shoots today where I'll test it out - not many f22 shots likely, but still a good road test for it. I'll follow up in a bit with any feelings on the camera. Cheers!

Thanks @Msmoto! Felt good holding a fresh and crisp D610 today. I had just shy of 45K shutter clicks on my D60o in about 15 months, so nice to reset the odometer! Just importing images now from today's shoots. I'll report back if I have anything significant to report on my D610 experience. :)

I have a D610 .. its a cool camera.. I understand that one of the differences is that the AA is less so images are sharper on the D610 vs the D600. I am using it with both my FX and DX glass. works great as a High ISO DX camera ! Would have been nice if they provided a 1.33 4:5 crop capability..

About 3000 ish actuations on my new D610 and guess what...?
The drded oil spots are there in the upper left. I am resigned to just dealing with it so will have the sensor cleaned... maybe that will be the end of it - new construction dirt... once removed, never to appear again? I'll cross my fingers.

On another note, the camera took a bit of a bump - nothing really nasty, not a mark on it... but seems to have been enough to make the autofocus stop working, regardless of Nikon or 3rd party lens... Anyone have the AF crap out on their D610? Any quick fixes or is this a job for Nikon repair depot?

    Thx!

I'd send it in right away. The sooner you send it in, the sooner it'll be back. They will need to check it all over after a bump and nobody is better placed to do it than them.

Yea I agree with @spraynpray...go online and fill out the information to return it. The system will generate no estimate since it's still under warranty. Then you just need to wait until you get the phone call or email telling you it's free or you have to pay for the "drop".

See the main Blog...Nikon is including the battery grip with any D610 purchase at Adorama and B&H. That is a $229 savings. Plus, both companies are including their typical freebies.

Either Nikon's inventory is very high on the D610 and MB-D14 OR the D610 is being phased out for the D620 or D650. What are your thoughts?

Maybe they are trying to catch some of the "upgraders" who have been waiting for the D7200. people moving to FX will always buy FX lenses as well.

Agree that FX buyers are buying FX lenses. A reasonable number of DX users are also buying FX glass for either the quality or for a future move from DX to FX bodies.

I ran the search on NR on the D610 and found this old thread and posted my comment regarding the post on the main blog about the battery grip being included at no additional charge. Someone started a new thead...just what we need is another D610 thread and it took off with some very good comments. Can't win all the time. Perhaps one should be closed.

    Corrected terminology..thanks spraynpray.

@Photobug Your post is confusing. A forum is NR, a thread is this D610 discussion and a post is what I am doing. These terms are not normally interchangeable!

I was browsing flickr and looking at a bunch of 70-200 F4 images .. clicking at some of the nice ones to have a look at the settings and stuff. https://www.flickr.com/groups/2123334@N23/pool/

As usual with Nikon images I noticed at the back of my mind that annoying "neon" tinge that has been a "feature" from D90 to D3S and less so on the new cameras...

Then it dawned on me .. there was a bunch of images that I really liked the tone and colours above all the rest ! .. I went back and checked .. there it was, those nice colours .. and they were from the D610 !!!
