Living here in Greenland photography is an obvious hobby. Having just recently upgraded from my trusty D90 and my D7000 to a D800, I am finally stepping into the big boys playground.

Taking pictures is only a hobby even if I would love for it to be something more. Since my very first Nikon FM2 back many moons ago, I have been clicking away, but just now have the financial means to not go down on gear :P

    Hello everyone,

My name is Jose Carlos and am living in Portugal. Originally from South Africa. I got hooked on photography about a year and a half ago when on a business trip to Scotland.
I have been following this site for some time now. Have bought myself a Nikon D600 in January of this year, and thoroughly enjoying it.
Can see some of my photos @ flickr.

    Hello everybody.
Been away from photography for a few years now. Just starting to get back in the game. Right now the only camera I have is an old Nikon N90s. Still trying to figure out what DSLR I want. Hope to figure it out soon. Right now I'm thinking about a used D700 or a new D600.

Good evening. I recently moved to northern Arizona from northern Minnesota (right on the Canadian border). I spent over 20 years as a freelance photojournalist for UPI, NEWSWEEK, USA Today and numerous other papers and magazine, working in the upper midwest, Alaska, Hawaii and the Pacific Rim. And during those years I used Canon F-1s. Now I'm looking to move to the Nikon D5200, hoping to be able use a collection of old Nikor lenses I was left by a fellow photojournalist who passed recently. I'm joining the forum to learn more about Nikon.

    Hi All,

I've been checking out NR since around when the first rumors started milling about the successor to the D700 (a hundred years or so ago.) ;) I've been shooting full time (headshots mainly) here in Los Angeles for a bit over ten years now. Before that I freelance assisted pros in NYC since 1992. Looking forward to checking in here once in a while to join conversations and get feedback from all of you.

    Thanks for having me!

    Cheers, Jonathan

PS- I have two kids 18months and 3 yrs so I have my hands full at the moment. :D

Today my 800E is at Nikon Repair to install this new update. It needs it. YEP just about everything on this forum about 800 800E problems mine got. They just came out with this new update release, 4/9/13 (A:101 B:102) takes care of the problems they have with this camera. Hope I Have Some Luck jimmyboy.

Hi everyone. I live in Norfolk, UK and have had a camera in my hand most of my life.
I started my career as a trainee photographer with PA Photos in Fleet Street, then as an assistant to a commercial studio and then assistant to Tessa Traeger in Chelsea. I went professional on my own in the early 70's, had a career change that lasted 40 plus years and have now returned to making a living with cameras again. I always used Nikon 35mm film cameras and the learning curve to DSLR has been great but, having gone through a D7000 and D600, I've finally (&very happily) settled with a D800 and some quality lenses.
I suppose the last thing they'll prise out of my cold, dead fingers will be my Nikon.

Just curious, couldn't you install the update on your own or are you calibrating the lenses too?

NSXTypeR Yes nikon install this update. I had many issues with this camera. Sent it to nikon. They fixed it to my satisfaction. Had to do this before warranty was up.

I am a long time Nikon user from California. I have produced Videos, ads, etc. for real money. I am not making much these days.

I had all my camera gear plus other stuff stolen from the Hilton in Austin, TX. Devastating. I have started replacement with a D600, 28-300, 16-35, 60 macro, SB910, and the usual extra camera junk.

I just realized I haven't posted to this thread since the switch. I am a older NR forum member (since 2009) however only 23 years of age. I have been doing serious photography since a preteen starting with my trusty minolta x700 and have done much as one since. I have bounced back and forth from being a pro photographer to a signmaker/graphic designer and so on and often refer to myself as a semi-pro (much of my living is photography and periodically all of it). While photography takes me everywhere I primarily do media, press, event, & sport photography.

I have been nikonian since 2009 and currently have a large, healthy ,and aging stable of nikon gear including bodies D700, D7000, D90, D200, D80, N80, N8008, two flashes (sb900, sb700) and a slew of lenses (mostly f/2.8's) including 10.5mm, 14-24mm, 17-35mm (actually 2 of em but one is in a zillion pieces), two 18-70mm's, two 28-70mm, a 35-70mm, a nifty fifty, a 55mm micro, three 80-200mm's, two 300mm's, and some knockoff brand lenses I never use.

    Hello all,
Photography has always captured my imagination and heart. You can capture any moment in time and revisit any time you want. You can imagine a scene that exists only in your mind and bring the scene to life in an image you can then share with the world so they can see the world as you do. Photography is more than just art, more than a recording device. Photography is a multipurpose media mechanism that allows us to express our thoughts, capture our present and relive our past. It is evolving and changing in it's ability to bring these things into all of our lives. For what is time but the passing moments of our lives forever captured in our memories. With photography, we can all be time travelers. Long live photography.....

I love my Nikons and have had Nikon equipment since 1970. The only problem I have ever had has been with my new D600. I have a post about it in the D600/dust forum. I hope it gets resolved.
