Hello, I'm new to this blog so I am starting with the introduction as suggested. I am a photographer, videographer, and web designer. I have been shooting since the days of Kodachrome, and doing web design as partner in a company since the early days of the internet. I am currently an owner of a D810 with many Nikon lenses old and new. Cheers! buddhafunk
Welcome buddhafunk. We hope you will enjoy our forum and contribute in your thoughts about the D810, as well as, other subject that we cover here.

I am a retired former chemistry teacher. Purely an amateur hobbyist photographer. My work is grand kids and holidays.
My gear is pretty mundane. Started as a Canon user : Canonet, AE1, A1, EOS 360 before trying digital with a Nikon Coolpix 995, which I still have and use for its great macro. After that a D70 and now using a D300. I also use a Canon Vixia HV30 camcorder. As you can see, my gear is quite old but I am ready to jump to a D750 with the 24 - 120 kit lens because while I love my D300 , I see it as a sensible upgrade from the D300 in terms of performance and I want to have video capability.
I enjoy forums such as this for the wealth of experience, knowledge and inspiration that is available.
Greetings fellow Nikon friends. Thought I'd introduce myself as a new member and fellow shooter. I'm a techie immersed in lots of web dev and such during the day, but have found a passion and creative outlet with photography. What better way to escape than to grab your camera bag and set out on an adventure, whether around the neighborhood or across the globe.
I picked up my first full frame DSLR this year and am still learning to appreciate all its capabilities. I look forward to learning from all the great folks here and participating in all the discussion.

Welcome @puppycat to NRF. Please consider posting one picture a day in that PhotoADay forum.

Golf007sd: Like the energy come from you so far....welcome and have fun. The more active you are the more you will find our forum a happy home.
Kind thanks. I do have a couple of noobie questions: Is there is simple way to do a "reply to" in the forums, or is everything done via the "post comment" button and copy/paste of text from other contributors?
Also, is there a way to see the threads in descending chronological order? Each thread is opening on the original page, and I have to scroll to the bottom and select the last page to get to the most recents comments.
All the topic are setup to go from the earliest comments to the most resent. However, on the bottom right of the forum their is a button "Mark All Viewed" which will clear all the topic as if they had been read. Thus, it will always take you to the most resent response on the forum.
As for the "reply to" all post are either via PM or in the general response area so that others can see and respond to it.

Hi, I've been readin this site for a long time, I come from Croatia, and shooting mostly landscapes, and some commercial real estate stuff.. Been shooting with canon at the beginning then i tried my friends d7000 with 17-55 and it was love at the firsth sight Now I own D800, D610 bodies 14-24 24-70 70-200II. sigma 35mm A, sigma 50mm 1.4 and a 105mm micro VR.. you can check out my work at https://www.facebook.com/hrvojebakovicphotography
I thought I was a member at all the sites, but I could not find my user information. Therefore, I set up a new account.
I have not really done anything online with my photography for the last couple years. However, I got the bug back and am back in action. :-)
I've been shooting with a DSLR since early 2007 when I first got a Nikon D50. I upgraded to the D300 in 2008. I just upgraded to the D750 this past week. I plan on keeping the D300 for a while. Not sure if I will sell it in order to pay for a grip or not.
My lenses include the Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8, Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8, and Nikkor 50mm 1.8D. I also have two DX lenses -- Sigma 30mm 1.4 and a Nikkor 10-24mm 3.5-4.5.
Big sign, "Do a forum search before starting a new thread." OK, how do a do a search? The only search link looks like a Google search not specifically tied to anything.
@pbull221, you're right it resembles a Google search, and the results show up in a new tab, but it is the search function on NR, and it only returns pages from NR - it works fine:)
Thanks. Not having fun trying to upgrade my D300s firmware. I can copy the bin just fine, and have repeatedly re-downloaded the file from Nikon. I only get pink when I try and proceed with the update. It is making me freaking nuts... Damn Windows 8.1, wish I had never gotten my now 1 year old kick ass new desktop with 8.1.
I've been lurking for years now, decided to try being more active.
I have been taking photos for almost 40 years now. My first new Nikon was a Nikkormat FT2, purchased back in 1975. Many bodies, lenses, and dollars later, I primarily shoot a D800E now, with almost enough lenses.
I'm mostly a hobbyist though I have done photography in a professional setting. I've sold a few shots here and there.
Landscapes, wildlife, and whatever else strikes me are my preferred subjects. I live in Alaska and this is a great place to have good gear and time to wander.
@gene_mcgill: Nice to have more members like yourself that have been shooting a great number of years joining in and becoming more active. Looking forward to your work and input. Cheers

I shoot and edit fulltime for a group of niche glossy periodicals. I shoot Canon and Sony as well. I've actually shot Nikon since the intro of the D1X. Seems like a lifetime ago. I had a short run with the D3 -- absolute dream of a camera. From 2007 to just recently, I shot Canon.
Over the past 6 years I've become fully immersed in video production. That got me deep into Canon with the intro of the 5D2. I moved into Canon's ENG line (XF300 series), then dabbled with the C100. The C100 had a nice image but its specs were a joke. It didn't even have 60fps at 720p.
So, for video I chose to shoot Sony FS (100 &700) which seems to be a great sidekick system to either Canon or Nikon because of the versatile e-mount. Nikon is especially good for cheap e-mount adapters, a huge selection of lenses back to 1959, just awesome.
Nikon is a great, great, great choice for dedicated photographers, especially older folks who like a touch of tradition in their tech. I don't actually fit this mold, but I respect it. I now shoot a D750 and D200. Love em. The D200 is still fantastic in good light. More than good enough as a backup to a 750/800 or D Series. If I was photo-only, I'd be Nikon all the way. Of course I have my gripes, and I'm slowly gravitating to the Sony FE mirrorless system (A72 looks incredible), but I hope to get great use of my Nikon system over the next year.
Welcome to NRF. We are friendly to all folks who have an interest in photography. Some of us have been shooting Nikon since the 1960's. I must admit, I had a Canon 7 with f/2 Summicron which I wish I had today.
Let us see any photos you would like to display on PAD
