At some point in the "not-so-distant" future it might be more efficient to just shoot 4K video 100% of the time, and then have editors take frame grabs as required.
I agree. It would be easier to find the needed frame from the video. So I highly doubt that 400k per photographer figure because I don't think that's practical.

Video files are never as sharp as still photos, simply by nature of how video is shot, so it is no replacement for a good still photo. Even video shot at 120fps is only 1/240s, not good enough for sports action.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

That's only if the shutter angle is left at 180 degrees. However when shooting fast action it's common to reduce the angle. For example a 45 degree shutter at 120fps would be 1/960s. Most sports won't require such a short shutter speed.

That's fine if you are after only still photos, but if you are trying to capture both that you will end up with some very stutter filled video files. To me the only reason press companies would switch to just video shooting would be to eliminate still photographer jobs. Thus sending one person, rather than two.
You end up with rather low resolution photos, then again most press shots are 1MP or less, so that might be fine.

It depends. Many major movies have fast action scenes shot at 45 degrees (Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan) with beautiful results. Saving Private Ryan won an Oscar for Best Cinematography. Gladiator won a nomination for the same.
Will the D4S give us 720p 120 fps? Or 1080p at 60 fps? I guess we'll know in a few hours!
409,600 ISO? The marketing department had to have there way. Still, from reading the website is suggests that Nikon believes it has made some significant improvements in low light performance. I am looking forward to reading the reviews.
I'm very pleased that Nikon stayed with the 16MP sensor. Moreover, I welcome the native ISO all the way up to 25,600 (kick ass). Personally, I don't like to shoot in the high H modes.. Hence, 400K ISO is not practical for any real image quality...IMHO. Expreed 4 should make the D4x really pop.. In fact, the new 12-bit uncompressed RAW-S should boost performance greatly...200 burst in that mode is awesome. Yet, I wonder what the buffer size is on the new beast. 1 Gig LAN, welcoming, but it should have been there on the D4 if you ask me.
Looking forward to reading and seeing some of those that have play with it and had to hold back on their feedback to the public at large.
One thing I can tell you, if I did not have the D4, I would be placing my pre-order for the D4s With that said, I will be skipping this model and going to the next one in the near future...2 years or so from now.

The official sample images only show images up to ISO 1000 :-( I hope we will see more over the next couple of days. I really do not care so much about the crazy high ISOs like 100.000 +. I would welcome an improvement on the range between 6400 to 12000. This is the range I am finding myself in for indoor sports or wildlife in early morning or at dawn. All other spec improvement are welcome, but don't cause me to upgrade. I guess the only way to find out is to rent it for a day or two. Jürgen

He is too confident and we all know he has double checked this part of the spec. Can wait to see what is "really new" on the D4S.
