January 30th - A few icons of the Appalachian Trail. Warren Doyle, left, has hiked the full length of the Appalachian Trail 17 times starting in 1974. Many of these hikes were group hikes, starting with college groups hiking the Trail on their summer breaks. He used to be a sociology professor there, and now that he is retired he just keeps on hiking. The Cookie Lady, right, and her husband, center, live halfway between Lee and Dalton, Massachusetts. They have been providing cookies to hikers for years - I don't know just how long - and also let hikers sleep in their yard.

Cookie Lady isn't in focus but I wanted to share anyways, for the personalities. I only had my 85mm lens on hand, it was very cold outside, and window light confined me to shooting in the kitchen where just barely had room to get all my subjects into the frame.

This compressed image does not do it justice. In higher res, the mushroom tops look just like aluminum foil. Click for a bigger flickr version.

Down low with a Snowy Egret on the prowl. The OOF blade of grass kind of adds to environmental factor, lol...

Adamz -- nice one, glad you got the time to pp the image.
PB -- Dedication, that is what it is needed.

Cropped and reduced in pixel size, maybe I should retain the original size?

Mine for today. A local business has asked me to provide one of their conference rooms with artwork (with price tags), and chose the flower stacking images I've been working on. It wouldn't have been my first choice, but whatever. So this week I'm going to try and pull together a bunch to give them some options. Each image takes 1-2 hours to pull together once all is said and done.
