Hmmmm.....I hate to make a choice like this, but forced to choose between a D400 thread and Pitchblack's contribution, I would pick Pitchblack in a heartbeat.

Choice #1 is a fantasy that even if it comes true, is someone else's.

Choice 2 is an imperfect human being, just like me, that inspires me to be a better photographer. I have learned/been inspired more by Pitchblack than any other single individual, including any of my photography instructors.

    Damn you Pitchblack!

Its kind of ironic because I am inspired by each and every single one of you regardless of whether I agree with you or not. I saw this the other day and couldn't help but smile knowing that even this stupid thread is inspiring others.

Somewhere, I suspect someONE at Nikon must keep an eye on places like this. It would be pretty cool to plant a bug in their break room about now.

By the way, could you tell me about that Rocky Mountain Bigfoot Oyster thing. I hate to seem provincial but cooking, much less eating, ANYTHING preceded by the words "Rocky Mountain Bigfoot" is not something I can get my head around.

Oh, I'm quite familiar with the "Rocky Mountain Oyster" part of it. It's the addition of "Bigfoot" that I find acutely interesting.

edit: and not in a particularly good way. :)

Do I have to wait for a Pro-DX to get the rest of the recipe? I know, it can only be stored in D500 NEF format.

Can we not turn this into a pissing match? What is this a high school locker room? :-t
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

I, for one, take the pledge to stop posting on these pro-DX body threads until anything substantial appears from Nikon, if any such thing ever does appear.
Any others willing to take the same pledge?
If so, the threads would disappear from the top of the of the list.
I agree and will join you in that pledge not to post anything until something substantial appears from Nikon.

LOL thats sounds very much like what terrorists do to protest an ideological "injustice" .. "LOOK I have a bomb strapped on my chest and will blow it up because your idea is wrong!"

LOL maybe i got that wrong .. maybe its the "hunger protest" of people incarcerated in an asylum ! and needing better conditions ! [-O<

Count me in as well I'm taking the pledge. Unless we see a "substantial" info, IE: leaked picture of the body or cover of an owner's manual from the reliable source within Nikon or even the FCC and CE : filing / testing / registration documents. Like that'll ever happen... in our lifetime. :-))

This thread is like the stubborn zombie that is refusing to die. :P

I think we know who *really* needs to take the pledge not to post anything until we have anything beyond pure conjecture or wish lists. If those people would stop posting, this problem would end. Everything has been said. Hell, everything has been said a hundred times. Every variation of a wish list has been put forth. It's time for it to end.
Posts in THIS thread from March 1 to April 3:
    1. PitchBlack 75
    2. sevencrossing 71
    3. heartyfisher and donaldejose both 47
    Etc.
Now, read your own post, PitchBlack :-)
I posted 11, btw, and there were 34 different people posting in the thread.

And in case you're mad about concurrent pro-DX threads: The D9300 thread was re-opened by sevencrossing, commented by some, and then kept alive primarily by yourself for another day. (Actually, Seven's post was a relevant and fun reference to last year's sort-of-April's fool.)

I have been thinking about cards lately...

For me cf cards has always been on the list of specs for a pro dx camera. Probably because I have a lot of them myself, and I don't really want to change to sd cards a long as the D4 series doesn't take sd cards.

This leads me to a question that you may find strange, but is interesting to me: What do you think is most likely, that Nikon makes a pro dx camera that takes cf cards, or that Nikon introduces sd cards to the D4 series of cameras? Or are both options completely unlikely?

(if you find the term "pro" offending you can exchange it for "top of the line" or something similar)

As Nikon is a Japanese company, I would expect something more along the lines of a sushi or ramen dispenser.
  • snakebunksnakebunk Posts: 993Member
@PitchBlack: I ask because it seems that cf cards is something that separates pro from other cameras. I came to the conclusion that the D7200 could have been an option for me if it had cf cards. But on the other hand, if all cameras took sd cards it would be an option to go with only sd cards. It is not a show stopper for me but I think the card future of pro cameras is interesting.

I would expect a mochi dispenser.

I would merely ask that these cameras use 2 of the same type of card, CF or SD. One of each is a PITA.

I will take the pledge. Half the posts in this forum are on this thread. That is not healthy.

I have been thinking about the Pro DX camera.. from Nikon .. we know that the D7200 is the Nikon DX with the highest spec. and the hoped for Pro DX would be higher. Which other DX sensor cameras would be considered a Pro DX, and thus better than the D7200 in some way. Of course we have the Canon 7dm2 .. any others? why do you consider it to be better than the D7200?

lets start with the obvious one
    1) Canon 7dM2 : Better build. faster FPS (10 vs 6) .. anything else ? heavier? :-)

There are many threads on Nikon Rumors that discuss CF vs SD vs XQD that exist apart from the context of an imaginary camera.
Yes you are correct, but I think about it in the context of pro dx. I think the possibility to use the same accessories as other pro cameras is a big part of what makes a camera pro. A pro dx camera should fit into the pro family and be a natural choice for pro camera users that wants a dx camera. For example I want to use the same cards, grip, right-angle viewfinder and so on as I use with my D800. This common set of accessories together with a similar user interface and a high level of build quality is in my mind what makes a set of camera equipment pro.

As I've said before, for me it is not so much about a physical dx camera anymore but about pro dx functionality. I sometimes miss the combination of really high pixel density and lots of fps in the pro family of Nikon equipment. But I am sure we will get it, and we are getting it more and more all the time.

I know some people are fed up with the discussion about pro dx, but I wanted to get this out of my mind. Now go ahead with your mocking, it is a good english lesson for me :).

@PitchBlack: All cameras have been imaginary, and the Nikon pro dx camera certainly is. I agree of course, as I do with some other stuff that you say. What you think is silly is up to you. And thank you for clamorous, that will be my english word for today.

So, no differing opinions are allowed in your world? Why should anyone care if someone else chooses to believe Nikon will build a pro DX? If they wish to post speculations on this forum, why should they not be allowed to? Freedom of speech is the first amendment of our US constitution, we hold that right dearly. Don't like this thread, scroll on by, its not that hard.
