Living in New York City, some people leave out the most interesting trash. Here is a self-portrait I took last night, sitting on a chair somebody was throwing out.
Mmmm...the "Backpack" thread....LOL 35 pounds up three flights of stairs...very slowly. This is the 400m f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, both TC's, D4 in a large backpack. Plus, about six pounds of tripod with gimbal which I use as a cane...Might be able to carry this a mile or so...but born in '42...what can I expect? >-
@spraynpray you should go once. I was actually amazed not only by the costumes but also by the huge number of photographers - and I mean really hardcore - I've seen guys going around with 1-2 assistants just to carry the speedlights or diffusers... And I truly missed a good telephoto (70-200/2.8 --- what a dream it would have been). I had my 70-300 but never used it, most of the places were really crowded so you needed shallow DOF to get some kick out of the images. Have used the Tokina 100mm macro for a few shots but focusing was way too slow for the madness that was going on there. So the 24-70/2.8 was the workhorse 95% of the time.
Wolf's teeth do bite. I just remove stitches from a fight he had a couple of weeks ago, an nearly annual event. This time with a dog over ten times his size. I would think he would learn. He's no smart than I.

@jjdarling, nice self portrait. @mihaich, I like what I saw in your flickr stream, I'd like to go to the carnivale one day. Intended to go this year but didn't get the opportunity to. @Mike, lovely shot of the flower with nice DOF. @Benji2505, I hear it was the weather channel that gave that name to the storm, some parties are quite critical of their marketing department now.
hey everyone, what better way to 'start' the spring by a photo of a flower! (its not really spring yet. hasnt reached 70 in the past month and is not projected to for awhile) D800, 105mm 2.8G, ISO 1000
a handheld macro... which is why DOF is a little small and ISO is pretty high... but it worked out. the WB set to Auto in post made the ground look like the sky... so i went with it The flower really did look that yellow..
Funny! ) Reminds me of a very controversial piece of art a few years ago called "pisschrist.: In this case the ice is in a fountain. Leaves fell into the fountain last fall and stained the water a tea color. The ice is floating on top of those leaves in the water. Post processing makes the color more or less intense.
