Mine for today...Know as the Weeping Angel or Angel of Grief appears in the Chapman H Hyams mausoleum in the Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans. Placed there to honor his wife both are buried there now. The original work was done in 1894 and remains in Rome. There are ten others in the US, Wales, and Costa Rica. The blue hue is due created by the sun passing through a large stained glass window to the left.
I've had a hellish work schedule and had to buy a new vehicle. I have missed some remarkable shots. I had so many shots today including eagles! But this mockingbird stood out. I think it was choking on this seed and I caught the frame when it popped out. This is not cropped.. Wide open at f6.3
@SqueamishPhoto, I have so many of those geese around here making a mess that I'm actually tempted to bag one to roast. Shame it's illegal to do so here. =/
@ ZSChow, do you do mail order? Your dishes look delish.
I know it's not always the best, but the pop-up flash on the D800 truly made this shot what it is. The sun was setting fast behind me and the 1st few shots were a bit dull. The pop-up brought the colors out. Thanks Nikon for not leaving it out on this model. D800, Nikkor 70-200 VR2 @ 200mm ; f/8 ; 1/160; ISO 640.
RX4, perfect lighting. Very nice. Shot this one in old Montreal this past summer. In a perfect world that background would have been a little different, but c'est la vie. D90 | 24-70 | 70mm | f/4.5 | 1/250s | ISO 400 Antique plate effect created using Silver Efex
Bouncing in car in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, saw this and snapped quickly. After crop, I think it works well. Such poverty. Such sadness. Yet many people (not here) are smiling.
Great image tganits. Poverty is one reason I don't want to visit many places. Too sad. Wouldn't be a vacation for me and wouldn't be enjoyable. Seeing the human suffering would bother me too much.
Now from sad to cute. Lovable and very loving little animals. They just want to be a friend to anyone who steps into the house.
@Rx4photo, nice shot well done on getting so close, that is one reason why i always leave home with my sb400 attached to one of my bodies, so small it you don't even notice i, but its powerful enough for some good fill
I love your weeping angel @pippigirl. The blue lighting also adds to the mood... although I admit my fascination with (err... phobia of) weeping angels started when a certain Doctor had the displeasure of encountering them and be immediately sent back in time with no recourse of coming back... (a little Whovian reference :P)
@cbg excellent photo too! Love that imperfect reflection and how the sky is "mirroring" the sea.
But really so many good photos from everyone. Anyway here is my contribution from my latest foray into the world outside
@proudgeek - you could extend your negative vignette by carefully brushing over exposure onto the background to virtually or completely remove it. You are right - that would improve it from a good shot to a VERY good shot.
