Z9 is coming

So, on the Rumors blog, the list of purported features included this one:

The Nikon Z9 shutter will close when the camera is off to protect the sensor

Down a bit, an update added this one:

The Nikon Z9 will be the only camera on the market without a mechanical shutter

Yeah, rumors site, but it'll be interesting to see which of these is, or both, someway?

It’s plausible they are both true. The protection “shutter” could be much simpler, cheaper, and sturdier than a photographic shutter.

I expect $5,999 to $6,250. That will stop many people.
Until I can get my hands on one and check the ergonomics and how it feels in my hands, no decision to buy for me.

I will be looking at the 100-400 lens. Hope it isn't above $2,500! I may get one of those....but I still would rather have the 200-600 as I need the range, and it will have quite a lower price as it is not an S lens.

That's what it would take for both to be true, methinks. No precedent to my knowledge for it...

The RF 100-500 is £2,979.00 so I would expect +- £200 or the equivalent freedom credits.

What is a "double coat on an optical low pass filter" and why would a 45mp sensor need an optical low pass filter in the first place?

Any sensor might need a low pass. If you increase the resolution, you can trigger moire by stepping back farther. But I admit I rarely worry about it.

Or could it be the Z9 has an option for pixel binning which then lowers the resolution such that a low pass filter is helpful?

Less than five and a half grand, so cheaper than we thought (though still not "cheap" for average people like me). I wonder how long it will be before Canon runs a five hundred buck instant rebate on R3 to compete?

£5299 in the UK. That's aggressive. If they offer a half-decent trade in on a D850 (to 'convert' us Luddites), then I might not be able to refuse

Thats my pre order in. £5299 in Scotland, thats an aggressive price, only £1k more than the R5.

All the press photos show a blank button on the vertical grip by the dedicated ISO button. It's blank though. Anyone have an idea if this is a function button that can be assigned? One would have imaged it would be a +- button, but it doesn't show that and appears to have no markings on it.

Battery life should be pretty good, really. And if the new battery is hard to find, which it probably will be, you can always just get one of the earlier versions for a backup.

I am not seeing accessories for sale yet other than the FTZ2... speaking off, the FTZ1 is going to get thrown off a bloody cliff, I hate that thing.

Any idea on 100-400 lens price?? From the reviews I have seen like RicciTalks.....I am going to wait for the 200-600 Z mount lens. I do NOT want to have to use a teleconverter.

It is £2699, so about the same as the RF 100-500 L. It'll also likely be sharper than the 200-600 and faster to focus even with a TC.

I want to see a Z9 run 7,497 shots with 54% battery charge remaining like my D6 with my Nikon 800mm f/5.6 (teleconverted to 1,000 mm) did a couple of weeks back at a Porsche Club Race event...
