Argen: very interesting - not the usual subjects seen on NR. Where is the location? I am guessing northern Finland or Russia? Look forward to more from you.
Ok guys and gals, in a few days some of you will be receiving the new D7100. Please attach your sharpest lens (usually 50mm or 85mm or a macro lens) and take some photos with highly detailed subject matter at base ISO, at 1600 at 3200, at 6400. Then post them on PAD. Many of us are interested in whether or not the absence of the AA filter increases subject fine detail and whether or not high ISO is clean. In other words, just how far has the DX sensor evolved to date? Thanks.

Maybe a separate thread would be best. I find it annoying when looking at PAD and seeing countless posts on stuff like that. It's like going to Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone and having to hear someone standing in line whining about how they got the texture of the cone wrong.
Here's my next big print. Sunrise at Jökulsárlón Beach, Iceland.
Just behind me is Vatnajökull, Europe's largest ice cap and one of it's many outlet glaciers, Breiðamerkurjökull, comes down off the ice cap and breaks up in a glacier lagoon sending massive chunks of ice floating out to sea where they are quickly washed up on the black sand volcanic beach here. It's on the south coast so offers amazing sunrise photography opportunities. This was shot with a couple of Lee filters on the front of my 16-35mm, a GND and a big stopper, all attached to my D800. Shot at f8 for 10 seconds, ISO 400.

The 1/6 sec is to obtain a slight blur prior to the rear synch flash firing.
Here is another which shows this effect slightly more intensely.
