Postman, your photos of Iceland are incredible. High on my list. The shapes on this one (and the way the tails were all pointing in the same direction) really grabbed me. D90 | 24-70 | 24mm | f/5.6 | 1/100s | ISO 400
The images continue to be so very well done...from birds to the barren southwest..
Mine is the pianist who belongs to the hands from the past few days. And, if one has not photographed a pianist, the experience is awesome, to be "in" the piano and listening to the music, while doing your job....
A joy of photography is the image that 'works' but wasn't planned... serendipity works.
I was playing with my new 60mm macro a few years ago. No fancy lighting, so I took my flash off camera, stopped down, and flashed manually a bunch of times as I moved the flash around the object from a distance of about 2 feet...sort of like a poor man's reflector to eliminate shadows. I controlled exposure by varying the aperture or the number of flashes. I did it in a dimly lit, not dark, room, so I could easily see what I was doing.
This dandelion had a black background and (if I recall) 15-20 flashes...yes, just as fast as I could push the button...while waving my arm to get all around the flower.
D80 with 60mm micro, 2.5 sec at f/20 with about 20 flashes as noted above, ISO 100
@obajoba- Yes it really is at f4! My shot first was the one you look at and say "yuick"! That's not a keeper. So I held my breath as if I was trying to take a long distance rifle shot and I was impressed that I got that good of a shot considering how poor the light was. Another thing was that when left the tent, I realized that my CPL was still on. Oops! #-o
I'm still alive... I've just moved from South Korea to Fort Hood, had a baby, and then deployed to Kuwait in four months time. Good stuff... -_- I sadly left my camera back home so I just have my iPhone 4S. Today we had a ruck march for PT so I pulled it out, saw I only had 1% battery life left and shot from the hip not knowing what I got, lol. I'm hoping by the time I go back home in Nov I'll be able to purchase at least 3-4 lenses from my savings over here, lol.
Recently did a number of portraits for a new startup that my roommate works for. They sell razors and shaving cream (LINK REMOVED) so they wanted to have silly shaving-cream beards. These were used for the comapany's facebook page.
