I know I've said it before, but Postman I'm loving your Iceland shots. This is from Atlantis, a ridiculously overpriced but pretty fun resort. The structure in the middle, which looks sort of like a bridge, is actually a suite that goes for $35,000 a night (not a typo), with a four-night minimum. I spent my week in more modest accommodations. D90 | 17-35 | 20mm | f/6.3 | 3s | ISO 400
When people talk big money, I tend to associate things more and more with photographic equipment, so a minimum stay in that place would set you back the equivalent of about 24 Nikon D4 bodies. Yikes!
Thanks to all...amazing shots continue. This is one that most don't recognize since we are use to seeing the whole flower...but this is the poinsettia...up close.

@ Coastalconn.......Another WoW shot! A nuthatch ? I have tons of them at my feeders right outside my window; I love how the nuthatches can walk down a tree upside down; I can see right now I'm going vto have to start looking for a Tamron 200-500 ! That thing is SHARP! and 1/40th ? I've never seen one of those stop moving, much less sit and pose for a shot!
@CaptJamo: Nice grasshopper! From a technical point of view I think f16 would have made quite a difference in getting more of the subject sharp and from a compositional point of view it is better to have the subject with open space in front of it thane behind. Having said that, welcome and keep posting!
Weather in NE is still a nightmare, so I'll keep bothering you with my vacation snaps. These are my two rock stars discussing how they are going to ride that wave. The answer was "not at all, I want you back in one piece". This is tunnels beach, location of many championships for surfing. There are regularly people loosing their lives in the surf.
@ Pippigurl.......There are many things to like about your great blue heron shot; First, I love birds, and herons are among my favorite birds; Second; it's not only a great picture of the heron, it's also a great picture of where I would expect to see a blue heron........in a swamp. My only question is......do you like to photograph cotton-mouth water mocasins ? (Because to my trained eye, this looks like a very likely place where one might find one !) (Or even a big old alligator;) Sure hope you were on a board walk or in a flat bottomed boat.......
BTW.......that adorable little bird from yesterday, working on his nest; he's a weaver bird; from Africa; there are about 90 different species of weaver birds, all from Africa except for five species from Asia, and two the South Pacific.
great buddha hall in nara. often claimed as the biggest wooden building in the world, although it has been surpassed by some modern structures. either way its very big. supposedly the one that stands today, is only two thirds the size of the original which stood from 1190-1567. the original being 10 metres lower in height, but around 30 metres wider
Not a headless bird. Just grooming. I got sharper shots this morning, but none more interesting in my mind. D90 | 70-200 | 116mm | f/8 | 1/320s | ISO 400
