@jjdarling I agree it may be a bit over the top. I just had to play with the filter and found that it's very easy to get carried away. It may have a place and I'll have to learn constraint when using it. I love your BW photo. Contrast is extreme and I like it.
@Msmoto, Great shot! I love that you can see the heat rising in the background. The tilt works well for this photo.
The call of the wild.. (they are actually chewing simultaneously)
It was raining intermittently as I shot this. Next time I'm going to shoot without a teleconverter so I can shoot 'wide open' @ f/4 in these conditions to limit ISO..
@dredden85 So jealous you were in the pits! Especially shooting a Lotus LM P2 car.. It's my favourite F1 team (as I cheer for Raikkonen!) Have fun at the F1 race this weekend Looking forward to your pics. Let us know how you like your buddies lens!
So I've decided to start a 100 Strangers Project today and hope not to piss off any significant others or my own for that matter. No exact time limit but pretty sure it'll carry on through the Summer and likely into the Fall. My conditions are 1) I actually introduce myself to the person before the picture is made, 2) I disclose that I'm purely an amateur, 3) I'd like to include the photo in my portfolio on a web site, 4) ... I will supply them with the website if they'd like ( will eventually get business/introduction cards made to streamline this). I'll probably not post everyone's name.
I'll probably grab a couple of pics from my recent archives and include them to up the count to 3 already. The benefit I see with this is realizing that almost every photo will be different and in a different setting thus teaching me to adjust my settings on the fly if necessary and hopefully become a better portrait shooter.
100 Strangers: #1 was texting her daughter when I approached her and asked if she could continue texting as I shot the photo. D800 ; N70-200mm VR2 ; 125mm ; f/9 ; 1/250 ; ISO 100 ; SB-910 fill flash
@autofocus so sharp, very good color... @JJ_SO your dancing photo is very nice, I find it to have a Renoir feel. I like the light and happiness. @tganiats Are you going to give us your trick detail? Pleease... Looks like a plate. @Adamz, beautiful as usual... You all must have seen this place....
In the middle of Page 19 this month (from April 16) I showed a picture of a church's ceiling and wrote, "Here is the ceiling of the Bole Medhane Alem Church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Tomorrow for some fun."
Well, today I show the fun.
I don't usually use Photoshop, but I was intrigued by the 'little world" picts (in PS Elements: FIlter=>Distort=>Polar Coordinates).
I took the previously mentioned circular picture and passed it through this filter, but instead of using the "rectangular to polar" option used in the "little world" photos, I used the "polar to rectangular," basically making this circular image a mural. As you can see (page 19), the original picture is a circle with a chandelier centered in a domed ceiling with windows. The result of the filter is below. Part of the ceiling in the Bole Medhane Alem Church, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Spent the last several days shooting some sports. Sports is new to me so I am still working on timing and figuring out how tight in I need to be for a shot.
I haven't seen how small this is going to be yet, and I'll probably take it off when I do..........
My wife had lost track of her niece when her little boy was only 4 years old; because of Facebook, they were re-united about two years ago; the "little boy" is now Major Erick......in the USAF, and flies the F-22A Raptor; We received this photo in an email; he had been stationed in Alaska, but had just been transferred to Hawaii. Erik is still kind of a "little guy".( in th center ) I think someone took this shot with an iPhone.
@Pierre: Thanks, it was a very special occasion, the whole afternoon was rain and wind on and off and it was half dancing in open-air and covering the dancefloor with plastic sheets. And at the end of the afternoon the evening sun came out of the clouds. That was the first weekend I came back from this place with nearly 1000 pictures knowing exactly this kind of magic happens only once and you never know when and where is a lot of excitement I gain in photography.
@Gitzo: The story is really the special behind the picture
A lot of you all have been shooting bikes. These don't go as fast, but a good tightly packed criterium is pretty cool to see. D90 | 70-200 | 200mm | f/4.5 | 1/1600 | ISO 400 | -1/3 EV
Quite unusual composition for me (shooting through grass/trees), though would like to know Your opinion. If You like the composition please click +1, if You don't like it please click -1.
