@adamz I voted +1 for the composition in your deer photo.. I was out shooting some deer the other day and my eye was "struck" by a few I had taken with trees in the foreground and background. I just stopped to look for a while, because as you say, the composition was different for me as well. But it's something I've been trying to incorporate into my photographing. I personally think it adds a nice touch. Here was my take on it.. I "added" the trees in the foreground to really show how much this deer was hiding behind trees/shrubs..
@Coastalconn - Kris, outstanding shot, the only nit (and it's a small one) is that the back wing got clipped. Incredible sharpness, I wish I could handhold as well as you do. again, excellent shot, needs to printed and framed.
I was playing with the Pocket Wizard III as a remote today and used the bird feeder as a subject. Had two cameras set up with remote and sat inside to trigger. Works great. Another tool for the belt. This photo was with the D4 and New 80-400mm.
Very nice layers, pippigurl- super shot. Kris, nice one, well worth the wait. Adamz-I thought the blurred framing took too much space of the picture and therefore distracted. I like the idea though.
@proudgeek ....... the lady in the middle is one of the top racers in the nation. I can't think of her name but I'll be shooting her again the first weekend in June.
Well, here is the DuPage River from near the same spot as it appeared today -
I say "near" the same spot because the February pic was taken from the bridge that runs across the river. That bridge is just to the left of the stop sign in the photo above, except that bridge is now completely covered with water. Choosing discretion over valor, I took this photo. With the D7000, btw. Seems to be performing nicely.

Beso, are those ice crystals on the tulips? Amazing. And Adam...just wow. Perfectly framed, razor sharp, and outstanding use of dof. I love it. Took this one in Jerusalem late last year. This woman watched late afternoon traffic pass by from her balcony. D90 | 24-70 | 70mm | f/6.3 | 1/800s | ISO 400
@scuderia1 - I think that the branches really work on Your picture, it's a beautifully composed environmental portrait, that says sth about the place where this deer lives. for me that's very important aspect of every animal snap.
This shot sparked late last night. The setup was a black backdrop, two continuous lights on either side with the bottle sitting on top of a piece of black glass. It involved a bit more editing than I'm use to but the result was pretty cool. Next time is put another light behind the bottle to get the green color.
