@proudgeek: Hummingbirds are very territorial. Ours scares away (divebombs!) others. I never succeeded in shooting this, unfortunately. One of these days... In any case, ask neighbors whether they have them. Once the population becomes too crowded, one might wander into your backyard. He/she will come back every year after that.
As I was walking I timed the shot while walking to guess the angle and spot of the person. Shot by the hip. D800 and sigma 35. Edited in LR and Nik silver efex.
D800 + 24-70mm F2.8G at 70mm + SB-700 + SB-800. ISO100, 1/250s, F22. This shot makes me wish I had a third flash, the built in unit on the D800 isn't powerful enough to get the light on the subject the way I would like.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.
