The shot everyone comes to get. Got a little lucky in that we just caught the light hitting the dome, leaving the background dark. This one happens to be an HDR image, which left the flag looking funky. I would have liked to crop it out, but couldn't figure out a way to do it without losing the mosque tower to the left or the mosaic work under the dome. So it's one of those details that just stays. Wish I could have stopped on the highway to get a shot of the moon several minutes earlier - it came to be perfectly centered in a gap in the clouds, making it a lone point light in the middle of a sea of thin clouds almost completely illuminated through by the moon.
This is the most difficult shot I've ever taken - the wind was gusting so hard that at one point I thought that I along with all my gear was going to cartwheel backwards. I had my full camera bag hanging on my heavy tripod and had to hold the bag with one leg to stop it blowing right out sideways and pulling the tripod over. By the time I had finished, I couldn't speak because my face was so numb from windchill and I couldn't actually press the shutter button with any certainty. It is proven - we are mad!
@ spraynpray...Excellent, especially at 1/4 sec in those conditions..... @ SquamishPhoto....these always make me dizzy..great job..I cannot imagine the PC lens in that venue, but, I cannot climb mountains either... @ Matty Very nice, welcome @ Golf007sd Reminds me of an album cover or an Edward Hopper
