Thank you, yes, I saw after your comment, it took me a while. That's a poorly designed user interface. Makes me mad since I have to listen to 8 hour discussion on where a button should go on a page and these folks at Nikon think to redesign their UI without what appears to be a whole lot of thought. OK, I'll have some cheese with my whine now.

Kind of feeling stupid but when your rushed I certainly made this mistake of overlooking that scroll arrow button.

I was actually thinking about getting a 70-300 VR... but I'm glad there are no rebates on that lens, I probably would have bought one.

I like mine. Have no intention of getting rid of it, even though I just picked up a 70-200/2.8. Both will have their uses.

I need an 810 owner to check out a possible problem with an 810. I grabbed mine tonight and when I got to the event the shutter will not budge from 1/350. It worked fine same time last week. Now it's possible someone else that shall be nameless tinkered a bit with it experimenting with video. I don't know. Problem for now is my owner's manual is 125 miles away. I've gone through the menus looking for something unusual. Unless someone has had this happen the next thing I know to try is to set the camera back to it's defaults and see it that works. Normally shooting at 1/320 and down to 1/250 it did a good job tonight in bad light. I still need to get back on track as in a couple of weeks I will need 1/1000. Just hoping it doesn't have to go in for any kind of repair at this point.

What are you doing to change the speed? Back thumb wheel? Have you tried the "i" menu?
  • FreezeActionFreezeAction Posts: 915Member
The back wheel as always. I'll look at the I menu. The wheel is all I've ever used as needed. Thanks for the prompt reply.
  • FreezeActionFreezeAction Posts: 915Member
I found the problem. As I suspect someone read somewhere about locking the shutter speed in the f7 menu. Now I can sleep.

Moderator guidance. I use to know how to edit my tag line information and then when the update was done that disappeared. Then a few months ago the tag line inform game back. I just spent some time looking and can't find where to edit my equipment list. Need some guidance. Thanks.

    Oh, nice job moderators.

I'm afraid the signature function went awol during an upgrade, and despite one or two brief/partial reappearances has stayed away. It may reappear after another update in the future. That's the best I can offer I'm afraid.
    Always learning.

spraynpray...I had that feeling that would be the case. At least I asked.

I spent 30 minutes last night watching D500 videos. Now that was not a smart thing to do. Don't want to start that discussion here, just making the comment.

Check out the new RRS camera strap. Looks very interesting. Could this knock off Black Rapids as the "KING" of neck straps? I don't think so but it will take lots of business away from Black Rapids.

Flat Lens Made Of Titanium Dioxide Could Revolutionize Optical Technology

    http://phys.org/news/2016-06-meta-lens-visible-spectrum-smaller-wavelength.html

Looks like some clever researchers have found a way to resolve nanoscale features separated by distances smaller than the wavelength of light. We all could have 800mm f/2 pancake lenses

LOL pancake lenses for sure :-) but F2 800mm is still absolute minimum 400mm diameter !!

The advancements are fast! didn’t expect that it will be available so soon! Last I heard was they could do flat lense single wavelengths !! Still once the tech is available... OMG !!! so many amazing new stuff possible !!

    Simple logical extensions like
    1) 24-300mm FOV zoom lenses at the back of a mobile phone.
    2) Google glasses type augmented reality.. (See "Denno Coil")

Other things easily implemented like multicolour sensor ie No more need for the Bayer Colour filters that looses 70-80% of the light energy !! the Bayer filter replaced by these NanoLenses resulting in a jump in High ISO by 1.5-2 stops. And resolution increase by 4 ! Yes, thats right, a 20mp sensor like that on the D500 just by switching the filters becomes an 80MP sensor that can go to 5Million ISO.

    My mind is boggling !!
