These old images have the heart of photography in them. The documentation of a piece of history. This is what it is all about....IMO, of course. Thanks
Just hoping to be helpful. I have a Velbon Macro Focusing Rail. It has a cork surface. As cork can dry out, I wonder if, as a former woodwind player, that a moderate amount of cork grease applied to the cork surface would help keep the cork from aging (crumbling) too quickly.
Seems like the wrong thing to do IMHO as the last thing you want to do is lubricate the joint. I would just use it and if it gives up, replace it with one of the modern sticky materials available to help older people undo jars etc.
Search for the RRS thread on here and you will find lots of pictures of some of the RRS gear including pictures of my macro focusing rail. It's built like a tank and according to Golf, used ones sell for high prices on eBay.

I had to grab a macro shot in a big hurry a couple of nights ago. It was blowing a gale and getting very dark after some sunset shooting. II was walking off to the car when I saw an Emperor Dragonfly looking for a spot to roost out of the coastal gale. While it settled I whipped out my D7100 and macro lens, threw on the flash but - argh! - no modifier! I decided to try to get a series for a small stack so I quickly threw a custom profile into the picture control and - wait for it - set the quality to .jpeg so I didn't get any buffer related problems. I shot in .jpeg! @-) That's the first time I've done it (except for ebay images) in ten years! I got some OK results (on PAD).
I will definitely do that again when I can be in control of the conditions. There was no editing at all before stacking.
ok How was this MV/advert filmed ? specifically the little planet zoom in zoom out bits ....

Anybody here know if it is possible to use an SB700 on any of the P&S's Nikon make? Or maybe a Nikon 1? If not, is the flash system of a Nikon 1 as capable? Don't need HSS.

Old dog teaching itself new tricks.
Saw it. Thanks for sharing the how-to.
Take the lens hood off, adjust the polarizer, put the hood back on
