Snowcat is waiting for the D5x. That, I believe, will fulfill his most stringent expectations. Well, maybe not the $1,500 discount on a 70-200E - but Zeiss has reduced the price on their classic 15 f2.8 down to $1,999! That would be one heck of a lens to slap on the flagship, hi-res, x-model.
If the new 820 is to be 46 MP then we can assume it will be an RGBW sensor. 36 MP seems to be the limit of the old type as the 50mp canon has been a failure in terms of EV range/low light
I think it is more than a cosmetic upgrade, if the elements follow a very similar design. The quality of the glass and coatings may have been tweaked. It seems stronger in the corners to me. I absolutely love it!
The Milvus has increased lens coating, detachable lens hood so filters can be used and the Nikon version has optional silent F stop movement for video use.I use this lens a lot, although manual, above 30 cm nearly everything is in focus, detail is incredible when used with a D810.
Well it looks to me with the D810 production stopped ( shortage D750 ?) that Nikon is waiting until stock is consumed ..unlike the D3300/3400/3600 fiasco with all on sale at the same time before putting out a D 8?? ...They probably are building them now
Yes, they likely are now building stock for whatever they will be releasing this summer. Could be a D810 replacement or could be their first mirrorless body.
I notice today that the D810 has totally gone from the price comparison website in the UK so all the main dealers dont have it ....looks like a good sign to me ...
www.camerapricebuster.co.uk Lists all brands and the major suppliers .sells nothing. Good indicatiion that its going going gone....They are not going to stay without a replacement for long
Although I'll be happy to see some progress, I personally doubt we'll have an announcement anytime soon as the D810 is still a strong product and times are hard. Plus - how many customers will have the lenses to handle more Mp than 36Mp?
Now that it's known that it's coming out in April, this is the right time to start the discussion about probable specs - 42 MP RGBW, 99 cross type AF point, touch/tilt screen , 5fps, snapbridge capability - Anything more expected out of this D820 ?
