Thank you. I have looked at the D800E and at the images. If I only knew just how bad the moire could be in fashion wear and even landscapes it would be my choice for sharpness as I enlarge to poster and beyond. I do my on in house printing on an Epson 3880 and Epson 7900 to both canvas and photo and other fine art media. The D800 is not a done deal yet but most likely will be my choice. Getting my hands on a landscape and a head shot from an 800E might sway me. Our camera center locally has closed up so that is not likely to happen. No local contacts now.

@ FreezeAction - rent a D880E for a few days or a week if that is an easy option for you. Give it a spin and then see what you think.

    Hi, folks

I started shooting film with a Pentax K-1000. I guess that makes me one of the old guys. As digital photography progressed, I wanted to stay with Pentax. I have a number of their "M" lenses and hoped to just upgrade the camera and follow an upgrade path to an eventual full frame Pentax camera. That path is still a pipedream.

I finally purchased a Lumix G-1, so I could use my lenses. This worked out quite well, so well that I bought two more Micro 4/3'rds cameras.

A Nikon 24MP camera for under $500.00? Goodbye Pentax, hello Santa! I can still use my old lenses while adding Nikon full-frame glass. I have always admired Nikon and was stuck with no path to a Pentax upgrade that was suitable to me. My D-3200 will be here Christmas Eve so I can play until my heart's content.

After I collect some Nikkor full-frame lenses, I will be looking forward to a full-frame camera upgrade.

I, soon, will be a proud Nikon shooter.

    Regards, Stevedel

    Hello all,
I forgot to introduce myself - I'm young to photography, started with a D60-D90 in 2008 and now I hold a D610 after several D600 swaps- I'm really excited about photography and does not pass a day w/o shooting one or two pictures. I like any subject with a preference for landscape.

Hey everyone. Andrew from New York. Had a 5100 for about 2-3 years ago and recently sold it off to my friend and just bought the 7100 about 10 minutes ago. Quite excited for it to get here. Just need to pick out a lens to go along with it.

    Hello

I'm a retired Civil Servant from the UK, trying hard to be a better photographer. Been taking photographs in earnest since the 1960s, but you wouldn't guess it looking at my pictures. I currently run two systems: Pentax for APS-C and Nikon (D800) for full-frame.

Just joined tonight. I had a D40x for about 5 years that I did not use very much. The girlfriend got me a one day intro to photography class for Christmas a year ago, which introduced me to the fundamentals. I then got a 30mm f/1.8, and a 55-200. Followed it up with a D7100. Anyway, I've been lurking on nikonrumors for several months now and decided I should join. I'm trying to learn as much as possible and you guys are a good resource.

Hi! I've just joined. I became a pro photographer about 6 months ago needing advice from the wise people of this forum. Most of my work is family studio stuff, which can be a bit dull sometimes but it pays the bills between the really fun stuff.

Looking to upgrade my camera at the moment, but not sure what to.

    Currently use a D7000 with Nikon 17-50 2.8, Nikon 35mm 1.8, Nikon 50mm 1.4, Nikon 85mm 1.8, Nikon 135mm f2 DC, Tokina 11-16mm 2.8.

    Good evening all,

Hval here, amateur photographer, who doesn't get much time to take photographs. Been at it, on and off, for over forty years. Still consider myself crap.

Currently use a D200 and a D300. Hoping to heck that a D400 will appear; otherwise I really do not have a clue what to purchase.

    Cheers,

    Hval

Hi, allow me to introduce myself, - I've used Canon gear for the last 15 years but finally broken away and bought myself a F/F Nikon D610 in place of my Canon 5D Mk II. My next step will be to replace my Canon 7D. The D610 was an easy choice because with 24mp, better low noise capability and 6 FPS, together with the accompanying 24-120mm f4 lens, I can realistically expect to better my IQ, (landscapes and portraiture). Much harder to decide is how to proceed with my second body, which I'll be using solely for sport and wildlife, - any advice will be very much appreciated! I can go for another D610, or a crop body, - ie D7100. I like the look of the new Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3, (effectively this would replace the 70-300 f5.6L and 400mm f5.6L I use on the 7D). Which body is likely to give me better IQ used with that lens? Obviously I'll benefit from longer reach with the D710, but I'm concerned with soft edges if I go for the F/F. Conversely might there be more noise and less low light capability with the crop sensor? I've been advised by one retailer that I'd be better off going for the D710 with Nikon's own 80-400mm f5.6, but not only does it cost almost double, I'd lose the potential reach of the Tamron. By the way, thrilled with the D610, - lovely build quality, no regrets!

    Hi all,
My name is Henry. I'm a Toronto photographer who loves documentary, street, music and event photography. I've been a Nikon user since about 2006/7 (D40, then D7000, now D600), and several years before that shot with film (Minolta STSi). I've been visiting the NR site often for the past few years, but only recently dropped into the Forums to look around. I must say the NRF trip to Freeport, ME intrigued me when I first read about it back in the fall. I'm now seriously considering joining in. I'd love to know any details such as what a day might look like (some shooting and some discussion groups I imagine, or...?). Also wondering when things might start on the 27th and when they might finish on the 30th.
    Cheers!
