I have been a Nikon hobbyist for over 30 years now, starting out with the FM-2. Looking to upgrade my D700 to a D800 with the latest updates, but it seems like Nikon thrives on suspense. I have been navigating through the internets to find more information on the upcoming D800 and came upon this site, so I have been lurking for a few weeks, learning much, seems like to be a fun group, I figured now is a good time to officially join in and begin adding to this site.
Also attempting to decipher whether to dump money and complete the Nikon Holy Trinity, or really jump into it and get the 200 f2.0, as it appears that lens is an excellent lens. There is some urgency to all of this as I am going to be flying from East Coast US to West Coast US to Washington State, and taking 2 weeks to drive back to the East Coast, so I definitely need to have my photo needs situated by beginning of June 2014. Equipment I currently have is in my signature.
Hi fjminor…and welcome to NRF. A thread on where to go from a D700 may be in order on the forum. I think someone might start one and you can see what others have in their heads about this.
Brand new here. Got the photograpy bug back in November of last year. I've studied my behind off (seriously...I lost my darned behind. Must have left while I was drooling over some high-end Nikon or something!). Anyway, got my first DSLR (D3200) in February, and I'm pleased with it. Yeah, it ain't the best in low light (though the 35mm 1.8 I got for it helps rock out a nice photo in lower light situations (and I know Lightroom well, too!). Finally, my interest now is in what zoom to get. I'm not sure at that this point if an FX zoom, though more expensive, would be better (say, the 70-200)k or a DX zoom (say, the 18-200 or the 55-200). So, that's that.
Hello everyone. I've recently gotten back into photography after a bit of a lay off. I shoot a D7100 and focus primarily on landscape and macro photography. I tend to enjoy long exposure photography and I've recently starred trying light painting. I'm considering a fisheye and
Welcome aboard. A fisheye is a neat lens...the 10.5 DX is a fantastic lens. Moreover, I really enjoy it on my FF as well. I think you will find Msmoto to agree as well. She has done some tweaking to hers.

Newbie here but not to Nikons or photography. Did the school paper stuff in High school and did some fill in work for the local paper on sports. Lots of dark room and film experience.
Let it go until a few years ago when I picked up a D70s. Hacked around and discovered i enjoyed Nature work more. So now its a D4 with a D300 backup and more glass than I can carry. Starting to try to get back into sports stuff too. But it is a lot of birds and such right now.

Hi from New Zealand. I have been shooting with my old Nikon D200 since it was released. I am going to upgrade to either the D4s or wait until the D800s is released (if that is what it will be). i obviously am in rush lol. I am just getting re-inspired and am beginning to build up me gear again after selling most it to get married. I enjoy reading the opinions hear and have been a lurker for a while. I work as a safety manager in the aviation industry.
Hi, I am researching a new DSLR to use for stills and video. The D7100 and Canon EOS 70D seem to be the contenders. Hope to get good info here including how long the product cycle is - when a new entry in this level is likely to appear from Nikon. I understand the 7100 was introduced in March 2013. Thanks for being here, guys.
Hi everyone, a little about me and photography, I got in to it last year and started out with a Samsung NX1000. Since then I've also been using my girlfriend's Nikon D90 and found a new joy and inspiration to taking pictures! After doing some researching I decided to start out with a D3200, some features I do miss from the D90 but I couldn't be more than happy to have my own DSLR and owning the D3200! I find this is a great place with like minded people and am open to anything to become better at photography! Cheers!
I'm just getting back into photography after almost 30 years. Back in the 70's/80's SLR craze, I was shooting with the Yashica FR series of bodies and various Zeis lens. I now own the Nikon D5100. I mostly enjoy taking landscape/nature photographs. Looking forward to learning from this group!
I've been lurking and enjoying Nikon Rumours for about 6 months and am so inspired by the photos and discussions that I had to join.
I got my first SLR around 1975 (Minolta SRT101) and bought a Nikonos IVA in 1984. I sold the Nikonos in the 90s (didn't do enough diving - but a great camera!)
Last year I bought a D5100 and rekindled my love for photography. Digital is simply awesome! Now I need more gear. Send money.

As to a zoom… the 70-200 f/2.8 VRII is excellent. Hang around and I am sure we can give some advice.

As to fisheye, one of my favorites, the latest entries from our recent get together in Maine:

Looking forward to learning from this group!
Last century I did a bit of 35mm film shooting. Haven't had a camera for decades.
Not being the least bit compulsive, I now have a D3200 c/w the 18-55 lens and the 55-300. It was a combo-kit at one of the local stores.
I am now looking for some decent, and inexpensive, processing software. Recommendations????
I hope I have picked a decent model, I have seen some "not so glowing" reviews. But, you work with what you have.
Also, two Hero +3 Silver Go-Pros. Also new.
Hope to learn lots.
thx
Gord
