I have been reading NikonRumors.com weekly since the day I purchased the D7000 (end-2010) and I have to say the NikonRumors is an awesome site to monitor for news, congratulations to the webmaster and its team.
I am 31, from northeast France and became progressively addicted to my DSLR, I do mainly landscaspe and portrait shots. I spend a lot of time in the mountains, that's where I enjoy shooting. I do a lot (way too much people think) of HDR treatment, reason why the bracketting option is always on in my D7000 settings, even while taking regular shots, i became accustomed of doing triple pictures ^^. Otherwise I enjoyed trying making timelapse videos.
...So much that It pushed me registering here, to share insterests and discuss technology and practices. I am about to receive a motorized slider for my D7000 and plan on making the FX switch in 2015 (?) for a: wider pictures with my current objectives for landscapes shooting, b: faster fps shooting and processing (i'm a bracketing guy), c: pleasure to wrok on 24x36 format. I will wait for a 24-70 f2.8 with VR along the way.
I have been on Nikon Rumors for a long time. I am from a large and medium format professional photography and scientific background. I am now retired and we continue to photograph now mostly with Nikon DSLRs. I have owned about 30 underwater cameras, some were Nikonos cameras. The Nikon AW 1 we used in Key West FLorida on it is published on the Internet. Here is a link to a recent Nikon DSLR video we put on the Internet on UTube several days ago and it has about 2,300 hits already. The Link is to Black Sky Films Ice Castle 2014 on UTube.
It was done with Nikon D200 in a time lapse box with intervelometer, D7000, D7100, D3200.
Consider this your long over due official welcome Dave
Great video by the way. You should post on a topic that is more relevant to the work...or start a new topic informing us how this was done in more detail.

Hi all my name is Arthur I am retired Hospital Theatre Assistant and live on the Wirral Merseyside and would very much like to get out of the point and shoot mode to improve my photography and as they say you are never too old to learn. I own a Nikon d90 with the 18-105mm lens and want to be able to take decent photographs because I love light, it makes me smile. I joined Nikon Rumours Forum so as to try and gain some knowledge from all you clever people out there . Kind regards Arthur Hughes.
Welcome to you both: Globetrotter (a.k.a Arthur) & cheri7.

Hi all. I've been checking out the NR blog and forum for a while now. I'm amazed at the depth of knowledge here (and a little intimidated). Born in the 50's - live in New Jersey. I've owned Nikon SLRs since the 70's. I've owned a D90 for a few years and a D600 since late 2012. I don't get much time to do any personal shooting. Mostly just interior photos for real estate listings (family business). Getting better at that is a goal - but so is spending more time outdoors with a camera and documenting personal fishing trips. My passion is saltwater fly fishing. For the past 8 years or so I've used a few different P+S waterproof cameras (Pentax, Nikon) and have been pretty satisfied with the results. This year I might step up to the AW1 (oh, I also have a V1). I'm still on the fence though - trying to figure out Nikons committment to that system. I'm looked forward to learning and participating here.
Greetings NR, I have been lurking for years and have found the information on this website to be extremely useful with helping me decide on what gear to buy. I currently use a D800 with the 24-70mm f/2.8 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II. I like to shoot landscape, automotive, architecture, and sports.
To Fishpix: I have owned a number of underwater cameras and am a PhD. fishery scientist. Due partly to the video quality I would rate the Nikon Aw 1 as easily the best UW camera in it's price range. Our videos are on the Internet under Black Sky Films on UTube. The Key West 2014 video under Black Sky Films was shot exclusively with the AW 1 camera. UW it is a delightful camera, easy to figure where it is pointed, excellent quality and the videos are outstanding. Our Key West 2014 was on Nikon USA for awhile as the first review (we gave it five stars) but then Nikon revised the site for Nikon 1s and it made it almost impossible to find our review. The O rings etc, are very well thought out and work. I do not think using the flash UW adds much and one negative report about the AW 1 might have been due to flooding there. We bought ours with a three year protection plan which I would ordinarily NEVER buy. I had three Nikonos cameras and I think the AW 1 is superior to those film cameras.
Davey, I'm looking forward to the AW1 with that one reservation mentioned. I'm pretty happy with my V1 and would like to get that kind of IQ out on the water. Enjoyed watching some of your vids - you're living the life. The "Ice Castle" - awesome, nice job! Dave
My name is Joseph, I'm 38 years old and born and raised in Northern New Jersey.
I've never owned a DSLR before and today I have my first one being delivered! Its a Nikon D610 and I'm super excited!
The only experience I have using DSLR's is when I use to work for PC Magazine Labs. I was a Support Analyst and ran benchmark tests on all sorts of consumer electronics such as DSLRs, laptops, gaming PCs, point and shoot cameras, video camcorders, networking products and so much more!
I'm extremely interested in learning and practicing time lapse photography and look forward to experimenting with NYC's skyline!
Hi All, I'm Deme. Sort of new to the world of photography professionals, but not quite new to taking pictures. I worked in studio with a local chain for a few years, but loved taking more outdoor and natural light shots on my point and shoot at home. Recently decided to invest a little more time into my hobby and purchased a d3100. So far I like to shoot people, landscapes, and different buildings. I want to try night photography, but still feel I have SO much more to learn.
Hello, new poster and relatively new to DSLR but shot with film SLR's going back to the early '80s. First DSLR was my D5100 purchased two years ago and I recently picked up a D7000 to accompany it. I'm still trying to catch up with digital photography and photo editing and have only scratched the surface thus far, but it's rejuvenated my love for photography.
I'm also an avid fly angler, upland hunter/bird dog trainer, cross country skier, snowshoer, canoeist...in other words, I love the outdoors.
Just Signed up. There are some interesting discussions here here on the site. I have been a user of SLR's since 1975 (I was lucky enough to have a half day program in photography in High School). I was an avid Canon fan but when i decided to make the move to digital I thought i would look over all makers and I decided that i would go with Nikon. I bought the D40 refurbished about 3 years ago and recently bought the D7000 refurbished last December. I'm really impressed with the performance and versatility of the D7000 and hope to learn a few new 'tricks' here!
Coffee farmer, retired lawyer, Honolulu Hawaii. Cameras include Nikon D3200, D5300, D7000 and D600 and Sony Nex 5n and 7. Interested in learning more from others. My first question: When you shoot with lower density images on the same camera, does the camera group the pixels together to create greater sensitivity? So e.g. by using a 12 mp setting on a 24 mp camera, do you get twice the low light sensitivity?

D90's are great… and with a D600 you have it covered. Happy to have you on NRF.
As for fly fishing, well then...here is a shot I took while we had our gather in Colorado last year.
Cheers.....
